The image above and on the left shows the interior of what is called the Launch Control Equipment Room, or LCER. It contains the equipment that provides support for the Launch Control Center. It has a diesel powered emergency generator, should the commercial power supplying the LCC fail. There is also a ventilation and heating/cooling system within the LCER, to assure that the launch control officers operate in a comfortable environment.

The second image on the right, above, provides the view of the blast door belonging to the Launch Control Equipment Room.

The image above and to the left is a photograph of one of the older Deputy Commander Launch Consoles. In the early days of deployment for the Minuteman I missile, the two launch officers sat apart from one another. A part of this design was to assure that one launch officer could not attempt to launch on their own. Two keys, one key at the Deputy Commander's Launch Console, and the second at the Commander's Launch Console, needed to be turned simultaneously to launch the missile/missiles. The distance between the two consoles made this physically impossible for one person to accomplish.

The image on the right, above, provides a view of the Commander's Launch Console. This image shows one of the early launch consoles used during the early deployment of the Minuteman I missile.

The image above and to the left is a photograph of a refrigerator and microwave, that is tucked away behind the launch control officers in the Launch Control Center. Whenever one of the launch officers wanted a meal, they could call upstairs to the kitchen, and request that the cook prepare them a meal. The refrigerator and microwave allowed them to store and cook their own food, as well as having the means to keep their water, juice or soda cold.

The image above and to the right, gives you a perspective of what the interior of the Launch Control Center looks like looking into the LCC from the blast door. Note the launch console located at the rear, and the second launch console located on the right.
